What to expect
The therapist will ask you a few questions about your health and medical history and any concerns that you may have. The exception to this is Myofacial release which is when Sharon will take a body reading on the first visit to distinguish the overall posture of the body and medical history and any concerns which you may have.
For a full body massage they are generally an hour in length, the other treatments vary from 40 mins upwards depending on what treatment you have and how long you would like the treatment for.
Clients are usually asked to remove any jewellery and as much clothing as one is comfortable with, and rest on a massage table, the exception to this is on-site massage, When the client is comfortable on the massage table you are then covered with towels and the only part that is uncovered is the part that the therapist will be working on, modesty and privacy is kept at all times.
Music will be played but if you prefer no music then just ask. Some clients like to talk through a massage this is entirely up to you. Some clients need to talk. Some need silence. Massage therapists will usually try to accommodate what the client needs.
Always give feedback if you are not happy with anything Good communication enhances the massage session.
All massage can leave you feeling thirsty and needing to go to the toilet more often than usual- this is quite normal because it has got your lymph circulation going and your body is flushing out those unwanted toxins. Drink plenty of water afterwards and for the rest of the day.
The massage therapist will likely use a high quality oil or lotion, but if you have an allergic response you should let the massage therapist know. It is best not to have eaten just before a session.
Your massage therapist can answer any other questions you may have. If for any reason you have to miss a massage appointment, your massage therapist will surely appreciate being notified as soon as possible.
To enjoy the benefits of massage which have been discussed, it is best to receive a therapeutic massage from a practitioner who has blended a thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and massage technique with a sensitive, powerful touch and the healing sense. To your health!
